It’s almost time to begin harvesting our field grown Hemp, filling our barn with the raw materials we need to make all of your CBD Farm goods. Unlike many Hemp producers, our farm only harvests the fresh flowers of our CBD rich Hemp plants for extraction. Doing so significantly helps the potency and flavor of some o f your favorite raw tinctures.
We begin by cutting the entire plant down in the field and bringing it into our temperature controlled barn where its divided into smaller sections and hung up in very large rooms to dry. Oscillating fans help the plants cure by moving cool air around the dark room. Air movement is essential in the curing process, as many plants still contain quiet a bit of moisture and can easily develop mold while curing. To help stave off the development of unwanted mold during the curing process, we’ve borrowed a helpful practice from our local Washington State Apple Growers. All harvested flowers are gently dipped in a cleansing organic solution, similar to hydrogen peroxide, which apple growers also use to naturally help remove unwanted mold spores. We’ve found that taking this extra step really helps the flowers cure without error.
As the flowers cure, moisture begins to leave the plant, shrinking each flower and leaving behind all the beneficial cannabinoids & terpenes we needs for our extractions. From there, the flowers are placed into sealed containers while they wait to enter our CO2 Closed Loop Extraction machine for further processing. Some flowers will be destined to become Broad Spectrum tinctures, while others will be further refined into CBD Isolate!
